In numeracy we have been learning a variety of strategies to answer mental multiplication questions. We have also been learning how to do long multiplication. We have thoroughly enjoyed Glow especially accessing Manga High where we have participated in a number of Fai Taos where we compete against other schools from countries as far away as America. We are looking forward to starting division.

In literacy we have enjoyed learning how to persuade people and write newspaper reports. We have been focusing on persuasive language and styles, so watch out Mums and Dads we’ll be using these skills on you! We have used the computer program, Comic Life, to present our newspaper reports on the tsunami which hit Japan last year.

Our topic is unfortunately coming to an end. We have enjoyed our rotations especially making model volcanoes and tsunamis with annotations. We also particularly enjoyed organising a trip to Japan and felt it was challenging and would help us in the future. Many of us have learned to write and say our names in Japanese.
