Evidencing Wider Achievements
Since the launch of Curriculum for Excellence schools are required to track our children’s learning through the gathering of evidence on the 4 capacities; Successful Learners, Effective Contributors, Responsible Citizens and Confident Individuals. This evidence is gathered through class work and school activities and is recorded and kept in a folder or computer file called a Profile of Understanding. These profiles stay with a child throughout all of their years at primary school. As parents we can also contribute to our children’s profiles by working with our children to provide evidence from outside school hours. These examples can be gained from within the home or while pursuing leisure activities. They will also be kept in our children’s profiles as evidence and will give the school the opportunity to celebrate our children’s wider achievements. Included in this pack and under each capacity we’ve provided some ideas of what evidence from home could look. These ideas however are not exclusive and awards gained in clubs e.g. Guides, Girls & Boys Brigade, fitness pursuits e.g. swimming, football, judo may also be relevant. Please find below electronic copies of the Evidencing Wider Achievement forms issued for pupils to complete at home.
